My son just had ear tubes put in yesterday. I have literally lost count of his ear infections. We were a little concerned because he is thirteen months and hasn't started even cruising. We actually were considering some physical therapy. He actually started cruising confidently yesterday afternoon. I can't help but think there must be a connection between the tubes and his sudden cruising. I think he now has better balance. I'm sure he will be walking in no time!

<a href="#comment-215" rel="nofollow">@Dr. James Hill </a>

Ah Mr. Hill. I invite you to check out the course offered at the Michener and learn about the PODIATRISTS teaching there.

I graduated foot school (not a pissy little diploma course as you refer to) nearly twenty years ago and have always been referred to as a PODIATRIST until I came to Ontario. Same job, same practice, same stuff just different Province, different countries. Onatrio is just really far behind the times with this issue.

I notice inyour post you did not refer to the situation in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. What's your opinoin on the PODIATRISTS there?

Why do you think the UK, Australia and NZ have ceased to use the title of Chiropodist? Anyone not qualified in bone surgery is not able to do it and that is a fact and nobody goes home in tears.

Frankly ridiculous and a little out-dated.

It's been more than a few years since undergrad was a requirement for the Diploma you hold no regard for.

Mr. James Hill is a DPM that is a registered chiropodists in Ontario. If anyone is interested please read the "discipline section" of the College of Chiropodists website. What a shame!
What credibilty does he have?
On or about March 10, 2006, Mr. Hill pled guilty to defrauding the Ontario Health
Insurance Plan ("OHIP”) of the sum of money not exceeding $5,000.00 by submitting
claims for payment of medical services to patients that Millicent Vorkapich-Hill was
not entitled to claim for which OHIP remitted payment to Millicent Vorkapich-Hill,
contrary to section 380(1) of the Criminal Code.

<a href="#comment-215" rel="nofollow">@Dr. James Hill </a>
Wow...you call yourself a Doctor too?? I believe that's against the RHPA...since you are definitely not considered a doctor in Ontario...but what's in a name right?

I would really love to see any surveys, or research conducted by the OPMA, the Ministry of Health or whoever keeps up this arguement, which claims calling all of us Podiatrists would truly confuse the public. Because currently I feel like that remark is a sad excuse, with absolutely no merit whatsoever.

I went through this silly little diploma program you talk about and was taught by a few very smart, approachable and NICE Pods. They worked hard to ensure the education I got was top notch, and it was..thank you very much. I encourage you to have meetings with the Michener Institute the CFPM, the OSC in order to bring your concerns forward to elevate the education standards we recieve. If any of these groups refuse your offer, it may be the approach which needs to change. I also encourage you and your podiatry colleagues to take students as part of the programs 3rd year internship in order to ensure you are helping current students reach your standards. Maybe then we can all change our perception of each other and work together.

My only question is I wonder if knocking down your Chiropody 'colleagues' makes you feel like a better practitioner at the end of the day?? I feel as though that is your goal, it has nothing to do with patient care. At the end of my day I think about whether or not I provided the best care I could to those who needed it, nothing else matters. It doesn't matter what anyone calls me, at least I know at the end of the day I'm a better person than you.
